LONDON: Quotech, the underwriter-led insurTech that creates practical systems for specialty insurers, brokers, and MGAs, has hired two additional personnel to meet burgeoning demand for its custom-built, data-focussed risk underwriting and distribution solutions.
The hires follow Quotech’s successful £1 million fundraising from angel investors and Convex Group Limited, the international specialty insurer and reinsurer, announced in August.
David Pay joins Quotech as Product Manager. He arrives from Verisk’s Whitespace, where he was a Product Owner and Process Development Manager. Before that he worked as Senior Solutions Architect at Clearsight, which provides integrated risk management solutions, and as a business analyst.
Dr Shyam Reyal joins Quotech as Senior Software Developer. A Sun Certified Java Veteran, he has worked as Director of Innovation at the Sri Lanka Institute of Information Technology, as a Visiting Researcher at the University of Cambridge, and, for six years, as Chief Technical Officer and Lead Developer of NOMAD at St Andrews.
Quotech Chief Executive and former Lloyd’s underwriter Guillaume Bonnissent said: “I am excited to be able to hire people of the calibre of David and Shyam. David’s Whitespace experience put him at the intersection point of global insurance businesses, problem-solving technology, and IT solutions development. That makes him an invaluable asset to Quotech as we grow. Shyam’s academic background and his exceptional programming skills are another major addition to our team.”
Bonnissent continued: “During our recent funding round, I had to convince potential investors that Quotech could attract the talent necessary to take our business to the next level. These two hires show absolutely that we can do so.”
David Pay said: “My career has focussed on understanding the problems that companies must address to reach their objectives, and helping to solve them with technology. The Quotech team’s combination of experience in the insurance market and skill with code and systems parallels my own. That makes Quotech the ideal place for me to expend my energies, and to bring truly useful, innovative digital solutions to risk companies in Lloyd’s, the London market, and further afield.”
